Washington, D.C., March 2, 2026

The American Lebanese Policy Institute Political Action Committee (ALPI PAC) strongly condemns the reckless missile attacks launched from the Lebanese territory toward Israel and publicly claimed by Hezbollah.

No armed faction has the authority to unilaterally drag the Republic of Lebanon into a regional war. The constitutional decision of war and peace rests exclusively with the legitimate institutions of the Lebanese state, not with any militia operating outside its sovereign authority.

Lebanon stands at a defining moment. After years of economic collapse, institutional paralysis, and profound national hardship, the Lebanese people cannot endure another destructive conflict driven by external agendas and imposed outside constitutional governance.

United Nations Security Council Resolutions 1559 and 1701 explicitly call for the disbanding and disarmament of all Lebanese and non-Lebanese militias and affirm that there must be no weapons or authority in Lebanon other than that of the Lebanese state. These binding international resolutions provide clear legal grounding for restoring full sovereignty and exclusive state control over the use of armed force.

The Lebanese government must utilize every available constitutional and legal mechanism to initiate proceedings to dissolve Hezbollah as a Lebanese political party. No political entity that maintains an independent armed wing operating outside state authority can simultaneously claim legitimacy within Lebanon’s democratic system. The integrity of the Republic requires that political participation be inseparable from full adherence to constitutional order, national sovereignty, and the exclusive authority of the Lebanese Armed Forces.

ALPI PAC calls upon the President of the Republic and the Council of Ministers to immediately reaffirm that all military authority rests solely with the Lebanese Armed Forces. The government must formally designate Hezbollah as a terrorist organization and recognize that any armed entity operating independently of state control constitutes a direct violation of Lebanese sovereignty. Ministers or parliamentary representatives affiliated with armed militias operating outside state authority undermine constitutional governance and national unity.

The Lebanese government must urgently appeal to the international community for coordinated support to strengthen Lebanese sovereignty and reinforce the Lebanese Armed Forces. A clear, structured national disarmament framework must be activated without delay to dismantle all militias and illegal armed groups operating within Lebanese territory.

ALPI PAC stands ready to actively engage the United States government, including Congress and the Administration, to ensure full political, diplomatic, and security support for the Lebanese government and the Lebanese Armed Forces should these sovereign measures be undertaken. The United States has long affirmed its commitment to a stable, independent Lebanon. If Lebanon decisively restores exclusive state authority and fulfills its constitutional and international obligations, ALPI PAC will advocate for comprehensive U.S. backing to reinforce that effort.

In parallel, ALPI PAC urges the United States to pursue immediate diplomatic efforts aimed at securing a complete and reciprocal ceasefire to prevent further destruction of Lebanese towns and civilian infrastructure. The protection of innocent civilians and the preservation of Lebanon’s territorial integrity must remain central priorities in any de-escalation framework.

Lebanon cannot afford to be sacrificed in the service of regional conflicts. Its sovereignty, stability, and future must take precedence over militia rule and foreign influence.

One State. One Army. One Sovereign Decision.

The time to act is now.
